Manages and oversees the FMI retail grocery sales team. Designs plans and programs to meet sales targets, develop and cultivate relationships with customers and brokers, and evaluate costs/margins to determine product pricing when selling to customers. Also responsible for selling to grocery retailers and managing brokers and distributors.

Responsibilities:
Build positive relationships with current and prospective customers
Become a specialist in FMI products to drive sales with new customers
Be the on-the-ground source of information on competitive activity and emerging prospects in assigned territory
Maintain and grow sales volume with current base of accounts within region including existing chain accounts and distributors
Ensure customer satisfaction with current product, service, and purchasing strategy, and successfully coordinate with cross-functional resources at FMI to address customer issues/requests as they arise
Work collaboratively with procurement and repack management to forecast demand and ensure adequate inventory levels are maintained to meet order fill expectations
Account management including setting a productive travel schedule to enable regular face-to-face meetings with customers and/or brokers/distributors
Provide regular written reports detailing field work, analyzing customer growth and margin performance within assigned region
Train and develop sales staff to optimally sell our products and grow sales with new and existing customers
Develop sales materials and product literature
Prepare and deliver periodic customer business reviews
Lead by example within own team and across other functions
As the face of FMI with assigned key retailers and brokers, foster the relationship and leads sales strategy development for all regions
Keep management informed by submitting activity and results reports, such as daily call reports, weekly work plans, and monthly and annual sales analyses
Monitor competition by gathering current marketplace information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, and merchandising techniques
Recommend changes in products, service, and policy by evaluating results and competitive developments
Resolve customer complaints by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports, and making recommendations to management

Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree in business, sales, marketing, management, or related field
Ten (10) years of experience in a strategic business development role specifically working with retail grocery retailers and broker representatives
Proven experience in sales and account management across a regional geography
Preferably, experience selling to retail grocery chains, and ideally with frozen/poultry products
The ability to travel up to 50% of the time
